Mathcad licensing offers multiple options; including a node-locked license for a single user or a floating license to put onto a central server for everyone to access.
In the tabs below, you can see what licenses are available and a description of each.
However, it's important to know that each license grants you access to any recent version of Mathcad, including 15 and Prime.

- Commercial
-
- Individual (node-locked)
A node-locked license is fixed to a single machine and allows access on that piece of hardware. This type of license is the most cost-effective for a single user, but offers less flexibility when it comes to more than one user accessing the software. - 5-pack individual
For companies that have 5 or more designated machines or users, a 5-pack option is available. Being more cost-effective than purchasing 5 individual licenses, this option is more attractive for larger teams. - Floating (network)
A floating license is placed on a central server and allows usage by one user at any given time. Different users that are connected to the network may use the license, but access is dependent on how many licenses are being used or are available. This option is ideal for large teams that do no have high individual usage requirements - 5-pack floating
Similar to the 5-pack individual option, a 5-pack floating pack allows for a more cost-effective option when purchasing 5 or more floating licenses. - Upgrade from all versions of Mathcad
Some existing users of Mathcad still use older versions or hold licenses that have been off-maintenance for a while. For these users, an upgrade option is available and this works out more cost-effective than purchasing a new license.
Home Use Licenses
All commercial licenses grant the user a home use license whilst on active maintenance. These licenses have the same features as a normal commercial license, with the only restriction being that they must be installed on personal computers, and not workplace computers. All node-locked licenses allow for 1 home use license, whereas each floating license allows for 2.
- Individual (node-locked)
- Educational
-
Educational-level Mathcad licenses are cheaper when compared to commercial licenses, and as such all require certain documentation as proof.
- Student
A single node-locked license for student owned computers that should only be used for class work. Student ID verification is required. - Professor
Individual and Floating A node-locked or floating network license for non-commercial academic research and/or teaching use only. Educational use approval is required. - University
Perpetual and Term University licenses are floating seats of Mathcad for use only on university-owned computers (no research at all). A perpetual license is one that ongoing; whereas a term license is 'on lease' for a year, at which point it needs to be deleted or renewed. These licenses are sold in bundles of 10, 25, 50, 100 or 500 and can only be acquired by certified educational institutions.
Home Use Licenses
All educational licenses (except for student versions) grant the user a home use license whilst on active maintenance. These licenses have the same features as a normal license, with the only restriction being that they must be installed on personal computers, and not university computers. All professor licenses and every 10 university seats allow for 1 home use license.
