EDEM

EDEM is the world's first general-purpose CAE tool designed using state-of-the-art discrete element modelling technology for the simulation and analysis of particle handling and manufacturing operations.

With EDEM you can quickly and easily create a parameterised model of your granular solids system. CAD models of real particles can be imported to obtain an accurate representation of their shape. Add the mechanical, material and other physical properties to form your model particles. These can be stored in a library allowing you to build a collection specific to your processes.

EDEM's Particle Factory technology also provides a unique method for efficiently generating assemblies of particles in association with the machine geometry. Machine geometry is imported from your CAD or CAE system as a solid model or mesh. Machine components can be grouped and you can specify the kinematics of each group individually.

EDEM is the world's first DEM software that can be coupled directly with CFD software to model solid-fluid phase systems at the particle-scale. This uniquely enables modelling of systems where particle-particle and particle-wall interaction is critical to system behaviour. EDEM also couples with FEA tools: you can simulate the dynamic loading on machine components and export results directly to your preferred structural analysis tool.

EDEM is a powerful addition to the suite of LEAP's CAE software tools. We encourgae our customers to utilise its unique capability to provide new insights in to your particulate processing and manufacturing operations.
