ANSYS Academia Programs

ANSYS Academic products are specifically tailored for education and research institutions by bring the cutting edge, high-performance ANSYS simulation technology to students, lecturers and researchers alike at merely a fraction of its commercial price.

In
Australasia, ANSYS Academic is classified into two usage tiers; teaching license, and research license. Both the teaching and research licenses possess the same solver capability as the commercial license, the only distinction being the number of nodes the model can be meshed with.

The ANSYS Academic portfolios are packaged differently from commercial products — a concept that relates to product names and features as well as whether add-on modules are included, excluded or simply limited:

  • An academic product is a bundle of analysis technology, often incorporating many commercial products and add-on modules. Some of the academic products have more than 10 commercial products bundled.
  • Academic product names and license files are different from commercial products.
  • A single academic product license may contain multiple tasks (typically 1, 5, 25 or 50 tasks). Each task maps to a separate user

Academic Teaching Licensing

ANSYS Academic teaching products are intended for class demonstrations and hands-on instruction. LEAP has been providing ANSYS Academic products to all major universities in both Australia and New Zealand, and is continuingly strengthening these partnerships with regular visits, workshops, seminars and training programs.

The teaching license:

  • Aimed for large user base, such as for running a teaching course with tens or possibly hundreds of students.
  • Also applicable for workshop tutorials, and student projects
  • Offers fewer nodes, thus an ideal package when the user wishes to receive highly informative exposure to ANSYS simulation technology, but without the need for high performance computing

Academic Research Licensing

When doing any post graduate or doctorate studies, you may be required to do work that is either analytically or practical based. If your research requires you to provide the most accurate results in your simulation, then ANSYS 13 can provide you with the most cutting edge simulation technology helping your provide results that are more sophisticated, higher in fidelity and accurate.

The research license:
  • Offers vastly more number of nodes to the simulation, hence taking full advantage of the advanced meshing functionalities
  • Ideally suited for researchers and scholars alike, who demands detailed model investigation as well as high fidelity solutions

Ansoft Academic Licensing

The Ansoft Academic product portfolio consists of two product bundles (high-frequency, or HF, and electromagnetic, or EM) grouped into three terms-of-use subfamilies: Associate, Research and Teaching. Each product bundle delivers the incredible value technology of Ansoft commercial products with pricing and terms of use matched to the requirements of academic researchers and educators.

The Ansoft Academic HF product bundle includes HFSS, Q3D Extractor, Ansoft Designer, Nexxim and SIwave technologies. It is suitable for high-performance RF, microwave, millimeter-wave device simulation and signal integrity (SI) applications.

The Ansoft Academic EM product bundle includes Maxwell, Simplorer Advanced, RMxprt and PExprt. it is intended for the design and simulation of electromechanical devices such as motors, actuators, transformers and other electromagnetic field simulations. The bundle provides multi-domain system simulation capability for the design of mechatronic, power electronic, electromechanical and other systems.

Both the HF and EM product bundles include parallel processing, Optimetrics (parameterized simulation and design optimization) and import/connectivity to many common MCAD and ECAD tools.

This table shows the full Ansoft academic product portfolio grouped by subfamily.

LEAP possesses an excellent knowledge pool in simulation technology, and many of LEAP's engineers were educated in Australia, which gives LEAP the benefits of having excellent local knowledge, and knowing what the universities need, and how these universities work. This truly positions LEAP as the best technology provider to universities and research institutions, by ensuring that the students and staff are given the most up to date simulation technology as well as training material, and that they are equipped with the best simulation knowledge possible when stepping into the industry.
