Ansys Elastic Licensing

Ansys Elastic Licensing is a flexible, pay-per-use licensing model that enables hourly based licensing across the Ansys portfolio through a single license product called Ansys Elastic Currency (AEC). It complements and augments the value of other licensing solutions, removing access barriers like number of users, product access and HPC capacity.

Ansys Elastic Licensing — Access additional simulation resources when needed

Sometimes you need more: more software, computing power, hardware and time. Ansys Elastic Licensing offers access to all these assets, right when you need them — during peak times or when that important project is due.

You can purchase packages of Ansys Elastic Currency (AECs) based on your short-term needs. AECs work with existing lease and perpetual licenses and allow capacity to be added as needed. AECs are flexible: They can be used with products across the Ansys portfolio and utilized with on-premise or cloud computing resources.

Ansys Elastic Currency is easy-to-use and can be “spent” when needed. The Elastic Licensing portal tracks AEC activity, so you can see which products are being used by whom. With this data, you can make more informed software purchasing decisions.

How does it work?

Licensing as a Server

Elastic Licensing is like an online bank account enabling to use the available AECs/AHCs balance by specifying an ID/PIN in the Ansys products.

Enables More

If combined with existing leases and perpetuals, these will be automatically consumed first and AECs only used to access more products more HPC or serving more users.

Detailed Usage Reporting

Each usage transaction is reported in the Ansys Licensing Portal.

Capabilities
Prepaid, usage-based licensing

You know you’ll need more simulation resources, but you aren’t sure when. AECs are easy to buy in packages of predetermined sizes and can be spent when performing simulations. Each simulation step (geometry, pre- and post-processing, solution and optimization, etc.) and access to high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud hardware costs a specific number of AEUs per hour. If utilization time is less than an hour, the unused AEC fractions are credited.

Access across the Ansys portfolio

You can access most Ansys flagship products — and a significant number of other products —using AECs. AECs are especially helpful when you need new software to solve an unexpected problem, perform a more in-depth analysis or require additional access to an in-use product.

Occasional use

AEUs are ideal in cases where investment in a product or more HPC makes little sense (e.g., when usage needs are infrequent or existing licenses are unavailable to meet immediate needs). They allow users working simultaneously to access more software.

Peak capacity

AEUs offer additional software access and high-performance computing capacity that can be accessed after existing licenses (leased and owned) are already in use.

On-premise and in the cloud

AECs support on-premise and cloud HPC computing, as well as hybrid solutions that employ both. AECs can be used to pay for software when working with cloud-hosting partners and for both software and hardware when using Ansys Cloud. Check with the cloud hardware partner of your choice for support.

Monitor usage

Use a web portal to access detailed AEU consumption data that can facilitate buying decisions and internal billing of AECs. You can determine AEC spend, by user and product, in time for the next buying cycle.
