Benjamin Wang from Monash Motorsport in Australia shares his thoughts on how 3D Rendering with Keyshot has proved to be highly valuable to the team during a challenging period where COVID-19 disrupted their design workflows and stopped all physical access to their workshop.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

As part of the difficulties that have come with 2020 both here in Australia and internationally, Monash Motorsport<\/a><\/strong> has faced the challenge of maintaining its work output without having access to our beloved workshop and facilities. What we do as part of the Formula SAE and Formula Student competitions is inherently very hands-on and physical, requiring significant hours to be spent amidst the cars, the workshop and the track. Our ability to photograph content is at the heart of how we showcase the progress that our team has made throughout the year. Without physical access to our cars or workshop, we\u2019ve had to depend more and more on our graphic designers to develop and deliver content from home.<\/p>

As a substitute for the camera, Keyshot 9<\/a> has been our highly versatile and dependable CAD rendering tool of choice. The goal for our graphic designers is always to generate eye-catching imagery and, with plenty of time at home, we\u2019ve had lots of opportunities to unleash our creativity and hone these key skills in a rendered environment.<\/p>

A massive change in the structure of our team came this year with the announcement of our transition to a single all-electric, fully-driverless car concept. Without access to our existing cars and the workshop, our team rose to the challenge of developing an image which could communicate this bold new vision.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our detailed CAD vehicle designs are imported directly into Keyshot without any hassle – ready to be textured, lit and animated as we see fit. As with physical photography, the choice of lighting setup, camera lens and focal length are key creative decisions which are left to the artistic discretion of the content producer. The final rendered result seen above came after multiple iterations were reviewed within the team, a process which was easily achieved thanks to the speed, accessibility and versatility of the Keyshot 3D rendering package.<\/p>

In fact, with the ease and convenience that Keyshot is able to offer, we\u2019ve even been able to create other impressive images that surpass the limitations of physical photography \u2013 another example of which can be seen below. Thanks to the convenience of rendering in Keyshot, in challenging times our team has turned to renderings again and again.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
