The project unites legacy systems and a myriad of data repositories and supports 15,000+ users across a vast fleet of ships, submarines and onshore operations, along with an expansive supplier network.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f1f20b6 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"f1f20b6\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1b292ba e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"1b292ba\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-615feb6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"615feb6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"932\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/www.leapaust.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/PTC-Navy-1.png\" class=\"attachment-full size-full wp-image-694\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.leapaust.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/PTC-Navy-1.png 932w, https:\/\/www.leapaust.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/PTC-Navy-1-300x139.png 300w, https:\/\/www.leapaust.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/PTC-Navy-1-768x357.png 768w, https:\/\/www.leapaust.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/PTC-Navy-1-930x433.png 930w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 932px) 100vw, 932px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0e1d9dc e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"0e1d9dc\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b669f11 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b669f11\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In an extensive evaluation process conducted by the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), the key selection criteria included:<\/p><ul><li>technological capability &amp; prowess<\/li><li>certified cloud infrastructure incorporationg DoD Impact Level 5 security compliance<\/li><li>collaboration capabilities<\/li><li>support for comprehensive PLM workflows.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-39009a7 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"39009a7\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7f47896 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7f47896\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>These criteria were judged within the context of three primary capabilities required by the US Navy:<\/p><ul><li>Product Data Management &#8211; Managing multiple configurations, sustaining and providing enterprise access to all components of legacy and future standards-based Navy Weapon System Technical Data Packages<\/li><li>Common Readiness Model &#8211; Analyse, report, predict, optimise weapon system readiness and operations &amp; support costs throughout the lifecycle<\/li><li>Data Acquisition Requirements Tool &#8211; standardising common data, requirement and acquisition approaches to procure technical and product data.<\/li><\/ul><p>Following the announcement that the US Navy had selected PTC&#8217;s Windchill PLM for this important initiative, Jim Heppelmann, president &amp; CEO of PTC, added that &#8220;(At PTC) we are honoured that our technology will be supporting the US Navy as it modernises it&#8217;s mission-critical technology infrastructure. The selection of Windchill represents an exciting shift for the Navy to move from building custom software to using best-in-class commercial solutions.\u00a0 With Windchill, the Navy will be able to reduce costs, accelerate innovation and enhance collaboration.&#8221;<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e2c7613 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"e2c7613\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-553d29f e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"553d29f\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c894559 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c894559\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Upon the announcement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineering.com\/PLMERP\/ArticleID\/20615\/PLM-and-Model-Based-Product-Support-PTC-Wins-Prestigious-100-Million-US-Navy-Order.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">experienced PLM commentator Verdi Ogewell observed in an article on engineering.com<\/a> that &#8220;PTC, with its technology advancements and partnerships, has the potential to rattle the PLM business. With this more ambitious goal accomplished, the cost and operational efficiency savings will flow through across the broader organisation.<\/p><p>It is also worth noting the US Navy has been working comprehensively with PTC during this process of modernising their acquisition and logistic support IT infrastructure.
