Across Feb & March 2021, LEAP has run a 6-part webinar series on PTC Windchill\u00a0which has provided an in depth look at the core capabilities of Windchill and highlights examples of how companies around the world are using PLM to boost their efficiency and product quality, at a time when teams are increasingly forced to collaborate remotely.<\/p>

The recording of the first three webinars of the series, Introduction to Windchill PLM and the Digital Thread<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/strong>, Windchill for Product Data Management<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/span> and Sharing Information Outside of Engineering with ThingWorx Navigate <\/strong><\/em><\/a>are available for those of you who missed it \u2013 read on for the highlights of webinar four of the series, How to Manage your BOMs in Windchill<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>

To begin, LEAP’s PTC Technical Manager Allan Thompson revisits Windchill’s Object Based Digital Data Model and discusses how this relates to BOM management within Windchill. Allan then provides an overview of how the BOM management capabilities of Windchill allow for the creation of a holistic product definition with related CAD documents and requirements, provides dynamic visualisation options for different types of users and much more.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Next, Imran Muthaliph, Application Engineer at LEAP Australia gives us a live demonstration of Windchill’s BOM management tools in which he configures a data set using filters. Imran then takes a closer look at setting up design options, choices and rules within Windchill in order to control product configurations and variations available within the BOM management interface. Finally Imran demonstrates Windchill’s ability to compare your BOM against the original part structure of the design (including visualisation) to ensure that it is correct.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Allan then takes a look at what you can do with your BOM, once it has been created – from using Windchill’s xBOM transformation functionality to create an upstream eBOM and a downstream xBOM by leveraging options and rules, to setting up an mBOM to manage manufacturing processes and work instructions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Finally, Allan provides an overview of how Windchill can integrate with other enterprise systems, such as publish engineering and manufacturing product data to an ERP system for resource planning. Windchill’s extensible architecture allows integration with a broad range of business systems and API can connect PLM with a variety of online services.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
