Senior FEA Application Engineer (LS-Dyna)

This is a full-time Senior FEA Application Engineer (LS-Dyna) role at LEAP Australia, located in Melbourne, Sydney or Perth, with flexibility for some remote work. The Senior FEA Application Engineer is responsible for developing and supporting LS-Dyna Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation models, providing technical support to customers, and identifying opportunities for sales and marketing. The Senior FEA Application Engineer will also deliver trainings and presentations on LS-Dyna and other simulation software products. Ansys Mechanical experience will be useful.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline, or 5-10 year’s equivalent working experience
  • Experience in providing technical support and consulting services to customers
  • Proven experience with LS-Dyna FEA model prep and simulation
  • Proficiency in using LS-Dyna and other FEA codes and tools, such as Radioss
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, such as Python.
  • Client facing communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-experts.
  • Experience in delivering trainings and presentations on simulation software products
  • Self-starter: Ability to work independently and collaborate in cross-functional teams
  • Experience in other simulation software tools such as ANSYS, MSC Nastran, Hyperworks or Abaqus is a plus

Application Engineer – Windchill PLM 

The Company

As a PTC Platinum Partner, we provide the full suite of PTC solutions: Creo (CAD/CAM/CAE) Windchill (PLM) ThingWorx (Industrial IoT) and Vuforia (Augmented Reality) and due to our rapidly growing Windchill customer base, we are looking for Windchill Application Engineers to join our PTC technical team. 

The Role 

Application Engineers are responsible for providing pre- and post-sales support to new and existing customers across ANZ.  This can include: 

  • Working with the sales team to understand customer requirements, present live software demonstrations and conduct workshops/webinars to support sales & marketing activities. 
  • Performing software implementation services including scoping, system design, installation & configuration. 
  • Delivering standard and custom training classes. 
  • Providing on-site and remote technical support. 

If you have experience with Windchill and looking to deepen your product knowledge and expand your knowledge and experience with other PTC products, then this is the job for you. 

Experience & Skills 

Experience 

  • Experience with Windchill is essential.  You will have experience in at least one of the following areas: 
  • Core data management – CAD and Document management with Windchill. 
  • Business process optimisation – Change and configuration management, BOM management and transformation. 
  • Business administration – User access controls, workflows, type and attribute definitions. 
  • System administration – Installation and upgrades, integrations to other business systems (e.g. ERP) 
  • ThingWorx Navigate experience is desirable but not essential. 
  • Java programming experience is desirable but not essential.  
  • Demonstrated experience working in a software sales and/or support environment. 

Skills 

  • Excellent understanding of computer systems and networks including cloud and on-premises virtualised environments. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Role

An Electrical Application Engineer helps our customers solve complex engineering problems using innovative CAE technologies. The role will involve a range of activities that include:

  • Technical services and consulting
  • Pre and post-sales technical support
  • Technology demonstrations
  • Training and mentoring

 

Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate a willingness to learn and a desire to help clients solve their most difficult engineering problems using simulation-based techniques. This position will involve frequent interaction with clients, so requires excellent communication skills and a strong desire to understand technical problems and underlying business requirements.

A strong academic qualification in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering or a similar discipline is required, with experience in the use of Electronics CAE software. Enthusiastic graduates with academic experience are encouraged to apply, along with experienced Electrical Engineering simulation practitioners with prior industry experience.

Experience in the use of the following software is essential:

  • ANSYS/Ansoft Electromagnetics tools (HFSS / Maxwell / Lumerical)


Practical Experience in the use of the following disciplines is beneficial

  • EMC/EMI measurements of PCB
  • Optical and Photonic Components and Systems
  • Circuit design for RF applications or power electronic devices

Application Engineer – Digital Missions Engineering

LEAP Australia is growing, and we are seeking a motivated and talented Digital Missions Engineer to join our team in a hybrid capacity, based in our Sydney office.

The Role

As a hands-on subject matter expert, you will combine your engineering knowledge and software expertise, to provide technical pre-sales, consulting & training services, with the aim of helping clients use our software solutions to deliver the next generation of aerospace, autonomous and defence technology. You often will be working with multi-disciplinary teams and business managers to create a complete CAE solution and deliver it within allocated timeframes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the technical delivery for the ANSYS STK module.
  • Liaise with the Digital Missions Engineering business unit manager to identify technical opportunities, coordinate growth strategies, research market gaps and provide field and digital marketing content.
  • Liaise with other business unit managers to educate them on new features and solutions, as they become available in ANSYS STK.
  • Coordinate efforts with other business unit managers and technical teams to determine how the Digital Mission Engineering footprint can be increased within the existing and prospective client base.
  • Contribute to consulting services, solution delivery, conduct introductory and/or intermediate training courses.


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Aerospace/Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Academic focus or industry experience in design for space systems.
  • Demonstrated use of STK software or knowledge of other similar software codes.
  • Experience scripting in MATLAB, Python, or other modern scripting languages.
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in writing and speaking English.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of time initially.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
